MY RUN FOR SPORT RELIEF
By Amelie - Year 3
On Sunday 21st March 2010 I went to Woodbank Park in Stockport to do a run for Sport Relief.
I did the run with my Dad and my sister Harriet. I felt excited because I was going to be running with lots of other people. We were all wearing our Sport Relief socks, and had our run number attached to our tops. Some people were dressed up in fancy dress, and some people were doing a three-legged race.
When they blew the starting horn I was nervous because of the people crowding around us, but once I was running I felt like grinning, especially when I could hear my Mum cheering me on from miles away.
Each lap of the circuit was one mile. Harriet and I ran two miles, and my Dad ran three.
At the end of the race we got a medal and a goody bag with a drink and sweets inside. I felt really proud when I at last finished the race.
I raised £40 and Harriet rose about the same. Our money will go to help other people less fortunate than ourselves.

Thank you to all our friends & family who sponsored us.

PARENT PARTNERSHIP MEETINGS
The purpose of these meetings is to enter into a dialogue with parents about school evaluation and development. They are not information giving sessions; there is no fixed agenda and no specific minutes. Previous meetings have been very informative for the school in gauging performance and receiving feedback \ ideas. The timings are fixed and the meetings end promptly.

Breakfast Club Award
Congratulations to Sue Lewis and her team on winning the National Community Breakfast Club Award. We also received £1500 and lots of media coverage.

KEY STAGE TWO SATs RESULTS
This year’s results are in school and are very pleasing. We have achieved an average of 89% at level 4+ [1.5% increase on last year and an average of 34% at level 5+ [4% increase on last year]. These results will be detailed at a later date after analysis and discussion with the Governing Body. The results represent very good achievement by pupils in year 6.

OFSTED INSPECTION
OFSTED have now completed their inspection and have made the Governing Body and the School aware of the outcomes.

Please look at the Ofsted Report for Broadstone Hall Primary School. Every family has been given a copy of the report. The final page is a letter to pupils. Could you please read through this letter with them.

The report will also be published on the Ofsted Website by next week. We are all sure you will enjoy reading about your child’s school. The Governors and the School are very pleased with the findings and would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to the school’s success.

Internet Safety
All computers in school are web filtered by BT to ensure appropriate web sites.
However it has come to our attention that some children, unknown to their parents, are accessing inappropriate and offensive images via the internet using Google sites and youtube.com.

We would strongly advise you monitor and talk to your child about what they access, and the best practice is to keep the computer in a family room, not a child’s bedroom.
If any parent would like to discuss internet safety further please contact Mr Lee – ICT coordinator.

Update: Have a look at the excellent saftey website http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ It has sections for children aged 5-7, 8-10, 11-16 with some excellent videos, as well as resources for parents and teachers to have a look at.

Schools Behaviour Policy
The Schools Behaviour Policy has been revised and updated. Can you please look at the schools Behaviour Policy and the letters about Golden Time.

Education City (www.educationcity.com)
The school has subscribed to Education City, an online learning resource for English, Maths, Science and French. It has been extremely popular and many children have wanted to continue using this at home. You can buy a "City Pass" to continue using this exciting learning resource for only £2 a year. This has now also be offered to Foundation and KS1 children. Normally this would be £29.95 per child, so at £2 a year this makes excellent value for money. Click here to download the Education City form and return it to school as soon as possible.

Walk to school week [WOW]
The school is actively promoting ways of travelling to school without using a car. Pupils are being encouraged to walk to school on a Wednesday. If this is not possible the you could always consider ‘Park and Stride’ This helps congestion if you park away from school and walk a short distance. Year 6 are about to receive some basic cycle maintenance training and as the days become lighter this form of transport will be encouraged. A school policy \ guidelines are on the website (General Downloads)

Please look at the download sections which includes up to date information and events around the school.
